Carpet Damage DIY repair NOT advised
Carpet damage from any cause most commonly requires the damaged area to be cut out and a bonded carpet patch inserted. Carpet patching is best left to the professional for a satisfactory result that will last the life of the carpet. Consideration is given to the:
NOTE: Shade differences will occur as the area with the damage will have been exposed to general use and sunlight whereas the carpet patch has typically had no sun exposure. This shade difference lessens significantly over 3-6 months.
DIY repairs are not advised as frayed edges and non waterproof backing make for a visible repair. Fixing the unsuccessful DIY repair requires even more spare carpet and a larger patch than the original damaged area.
